Belgian Pension: What You Should Know

USB - Commission

This page provides general information and correspondence regarding the situation of combined pensions with an EU pension, as well as the position of the relevant Belgian authorities (SPF Pensions).

Union Syndicale Fédérale sent a letter (in French only) to the European Commission seeking clarification on the potential implications for pensions following the recent Belgian initiative to prevent the accumulation of pensions. The Commission subsequently provided a written response , which is published here alongside the original USF letter for transparency and the context of the exchange.

It should be noted that the Commission has also prepared a template letter on MyIntracom to assist those affected in their individual dealings with the Belgian pension authorities. Access to MyIntracom varies by institution, and retirees do not have access to it. This is why you can contact Union Syndicale Bruxelles for the sample letter, as it is not published directly on this website. If you have difficulty finding it, you can contact USB to receive a copy of this sample letter on an individual basis.

The content of the Commission’s response and the sample letter is the sole responsibility of the European Commission and is subject to change over time. Pension legislation and its interpretation may change, and individual circumstances may vary. We therefore encourage you to consult official sources and check this page regularly for updates or subsequent legal developments.
