Not flying, just falling out of the EU without style

Brexit could cause major problems for air travel in Europe, according to a report in the Irish Times this week. Firstly, the article outlines the astonishing advances that have been made in the sector in the past 25 years, with the number of routes rising exponentially as ticket prices have dramatically fallen.

This ‘dawn of a new age for consumers’ was due to European level reforms which notably broke up national strongholds on routes, leading to the rise of cheap airlines such as the now omnipresent Ryanair.

However, Ryanair is now warning that it stands to lose numerous slots in the UK if no Brexit deal is agreed, while British airlines could lose the right to fly into many EU airports altogether.
