Union Syndicale Fédérale supports EPSU’s call for tax justice and responsible public procurement
At a time when public services across Europe face increasing financial pressure, it is unacceptable that companies receiving public money can avoid making a fair contribution to the societies and public institutions from which they profit. As trade unions representing public service workers, we believe that respect for tax obligations, transparency, and social responsibility must be essential criteria when awarding public contracts.
Union Syndicale Fédérale fully supports the position taken by EPSU and its affiliates following the publication of the new CICTAR report on Palantir’s tax practices in Europe. According to the report, the company has benefited from significant public contracts across Europe while paying little to no corporate tax through profit-shifting and other tax avoidance mechanisms.
We therefore stand with EPSU in calling for stronger EU public procurement rules, greater tax transparency, and measures to ensure that public funds support companies that contribute fairly to the financing of public services.
We invite our members and readers to discover the findings of the report and the recommendations put forward by EPSU and CICTAR.
