Dear Readers,<\/p>\n

\u201c50th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary, so long so short, so much done, so much to be done, but no place for pessimism\u201d<\/p>\n

In this special edition commemorating the 50th anniversary of Union Syndicale F\u00e9d\u00e9rale (USF), we embark on a journey through five decades of dedication, resilience, and achievements. Since its inception, USF has been at the forefront of advocating for the rights and well-being of European Union staff members. From negotiating early framework agreements with EU institutions\u00a0and other non community bodies,\u00a0to championing social dialogue and staff protections, USF has consistently demonstrated its unwavering commitment to its members. From landmark strikes to the establishment of crucial labour rights, USF has been instrumental in shaping the landscape of EU governance and employment policies.<\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover, this edition serves as a highlight of key moments in our history, shedding light on the trials and triumphs that have defined our journey. It is also a tribute to the individuals who have contributed to USF’s legacy over the years. Through archival photographs, we honour the dedication and resilience of past and present members, leaders, and activists who have worked tirelessly to advance the interests of EU staff. As we celebrate this momentous occasion, we also look to the future with optimism and determination. The challenges facing us today may be daunting, but they are met with the same resolve and solidarity that have guided us thus far.\u00a0<\/span>And USF driver is what W. Churchill said \u201cle succ\u00e8s ne dure pas, l\u2019\u00e9chec ne tue pas. Ce qui compte est de continuer\u201d.\u00a0<\/span>USF will continue to develop its actions decided democratically.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are also proud to present a unique\u00a0editorial<\/span>\u00a0approach as we search through our archives of historical photographs to illustrate each article. These images not only visually enrich our publication but also serve as a testament to the vibrant history and enduring spirit of our union. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who have been part of USF’s journey, past and present. Your contributions\u00a0over these decades\u00a0have shaped our union into what it is today, and your continued support will propel us forward into the next 50 years and beyond.<\/span><\/p>\n

USF has been very active , but so much still to be done: fight against harassment, governance of the agencies, equal rights\u2026 And so many new challenges: teleworking, new working environment, precarity (eternal issue). USF will be there on the Staff\u2019s side as the only real resource of the Institutions is the Staff. It will be difficult but the core value of USF will be our driver: Solidarity. And as H. Ford stated long time ago \u201c Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, working together is success\u201d<\/p>\n
